CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Senior Marquis Hawkins Named All-Star Game MVP and All-State

(Windsor, CT) CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Jets senior Marquis Hawkins recently collected two prestigious accolades to conclude an illustrious high school playing career. On March 22nd, he was named Most Valuable Player of the Charter Oak team at the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Class S/M All-Star Basketball Game.

MarquisHawkins.jpgThe game included the top 10 seniors from Class S and Class M schools in the state. Marquis scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. On March 27th, Marquis was named to the CHSCA Class S All-State Second Team.

He is the first student-athlete from CREC Aerospace to attain All-State recognition and the first CREC basketball player to be named All-State.

“The goal of our CREC Athletic Program is to produce citizen-athletes who grow into leaders on and off of the competitive stage. There is no better example of this than Marquis Hawkins. His personal growth over the last four years has been remarkable and I am confident that he will be a successful contributing member of society as he enters college and beyond,” commented CREC Athletic Director Jonathan Winer.

This season, Marquis averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game. He served as captain and led his team to an 18-8 record and a berth in the Class S State Semifinals.

Marquis will be formally recognized as an All-State member at a dinner on April 23, 2017 at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville.
