If you are not familiar with Leadership Greater Hartford or would like to learn more about who we are, please visit our webpage here.  We are committed to enhancing the skill sets of the next generation of leaders and have provided leadership training for city and suburban youth since 1988.  During social distancing, we remain steadfast to our mission to provide aspiring leaders opportunities to acquire the skills and insights they will need to succeed in school and in life.

Any student can sign up to participate at no charge; the only requirement is to have a valid email address.

How does it work? All five lessons from Unit 1 are available during August 3-7 upon registration. For Unit 2, each day at 8am a pre-recorded lesson will be available to view and will remain active for the remainder of the week. Students can watch these at a time of their choosing but they will only remain live during the week of August 10-14. We strongly encourage the lessons in this unit to be seen in the order they are uploaded. At the conclusion of each lesson, students will receive a link to an online document that will help them harvest their learning and will invite deeper reflection of the lessons.

UCONN Update for CREC Students

UCONN is moving to Test-Optional status, beginning with students entering for the 2021-2022 school year (CREC's current juniors).  They will continue to pilot and study the effects of test-optional admission for the next two admission cycles following 2021-2022.

What this means for students is that UCONN will take a more holistic approach in its admission process.  While students have the option to submit their standardized test scores (SAT or ACT), they will not be REQUIRED to do so.  The school will not use the tests as an admission requirement, and students will receive no penalty for choosing to withhold their test scores. This offers our students the opportunity to showcase their unique talents, and to bring forth their individual passion.

The rigor of courses taken as well as student achievement in those courses will be examined even more closely by admissions' counselors. A student's willingness and persistence to do well in classes, will be even more important now!

There are several private colleges in our state who employ test-optional practices. With UCONN as our state's flagship university, it will be interesting to see whether other state schools will follow this trend.

**Eastern Connecticut State University is already test-optional.
*Western Connecticut State University is test-optional with conditions

Please seek out your school counselor if you have questions. To learn more, please visit the UCONN application instructions page.
